ICS Begins Work With Swiftships to Equip Craft With Autonomous System

Fairfax, VA – June 24, 2016. ICS Nett (ICS) begins work with Swiftships, LLC, a Louisiana based Shipbuilding Company, to equip its Special Operation Craft – Riverine (SOCR) with Autonomous system using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.

The SOCR, also known as the Anaconda, remote capability was originally developed in 2014 through a partnership between Swiftships and the University of Louisiana Lafayette (ULL). Anaconda version 1.0 successfully operated as a remote controlled, using human interface. ICS’ current scope of work on the SOCR will be to transform its existing technology into fully autonomous, and as result build Anaconda version 2.0.

ICS’ goal is to get the Anaconda 2.0 augmented with AI features that allow it to follow terrain and way point markers, be capable of collision avoidance without any direct input, perform tactical maneuvers and loiter in areas for long periods of time – making it a completely autonomous watercraft.

To reach this state, ICS will validate the original code and control mechanisms and identify its shortcomings. Sensitivity levels will be improved, and the autonomous capability of the Anaconda will be developed by enhancing AI through revised algorithms and creating a deeper library of aforementioned control functions.

ICS will then develop a test bench system that is capable of reproducing the field conditions in a simulated environment. This is necessary to test the Anaconda 2.0 and to measure the success of the new AI and autonomous capabilities.

“At ICS, we’ve always known that are capable of diversifying into any market, but this project shows the world what we can achieve and exemplifies the extent of our reach in the technology industry,” John Alexander, ICS CEO said. “To be a part of the creation of a completely autonomous ship with Artificial Intelligence capabilities is a monumental step forward for ICS.”

Mr. Masood, Director of IT said, “It makes sense for ICS to begin working with existing AI technologies. We’ve always focused on the future of technology, and this is the obvious next step.”
